An electromechanical actuator (EMA) developed by Safran Electronics & Defense
made its first flight at the beginning of the year 2011 as the primary
flight control for the aileron on an Airbus A320 commercial jetliner.
EMA marks a major step forward in the development of "more
electric" aircraft, and won the Safran group’s Innovation Competition
Grand Prize in April 2011.
